Days In The Yard and Raising Chicks.

We love spending time as a family in our backyard surrounded by the sights, sounds and smells of nature. We have garden beds growing our fresh produce, many outdoor activities for Audrey and two very cheeky dogs. After months of pleading my case and leaving well documented articles around the house I finally persuaded Luke to let us have chickens. After much research we decided to buy Isa Brown chicks and hand raise them so they could become comfortable and confident around Audrey and our dogs. Mabel and Ethel were delivered from a local farmer 6 days new and we all instantly fell in love. Chickens can teach children about caring, responsibility and the joy that nature can bring. Not to mention in approximately 14 weeks we should have beautiful, fresh eggs...

Love, Elle

  1. I just discovered you through Che & Fidel. You have a beautiful space here & i quickly added you to my favourites.
I have been trying to convince my husband to let us get chickens but he thinks they are 'dirty' & so far isn't budging. I have a 7 month old daughter & when she's a bit older i think chickens would make a great pet for her & i love the idea of having fresh, free range eggs right from our own backyard.

    1. Oh hello and welcome! Thank you so much for your kind words.
Definitely dont give up with your hubby, I had the same battle with mine until I showed him all the health benefits and the amazing opportunities having chickens would give our child. They are most certainly messy little things but by no means dirty. They are so lovely with Audrey, they just follow behind her all around the backyard. Best of luck convincing hubby! x x x
