We walk over the soft grass, I imagine the rain falling quenching the soils thirst. She runs ahead excitedly, she knows where we are. I watch as my loves talk and laugh with the sheep and gently pat the friendly goats. The turkey approaches and she reaches for her father, she knows he will protect her. With her prized knitted toy in hand she points with delight "chick chicks" and all we potter over, hand in hand, to see the beautiful animals.
Having chickens has enriched our lives in so many ways, they provide education and entertainment for our child, they have challenged Luke and I to think outside the square, to learn new things and soon they will give our family fresh eggs. To thank our girls we provide them with nutritious food and a wonderful home and our trips to pick up supplies is just another way in which having chickens has given our family joy. We love wandering around Poplars Produce with their motley crew of animals and walls overflowing with the best supplies any chicken owner could wish for. The staff are both knowledgeable and friendly and Audrey loves exploring and visiting the resident "kiddy" who, after a solid 20 minutes of playing hide and seek with our frog, always looks happy to see us go.
We are lucky, we are thankful....
