"A portrait of Audrey, once a week, every week, in 2013"
This week you learnt about disappointment... We had spoken all day (with great excitement) of our trip to the beach that afternoon to have a treat with friends. Just before we were set to leave a severe storm rolled overhead and with miserable weather came news we could no longer go on our play date. As tears rolled down your cheeks and you asked "why" I couldn't help but think this was just the first of many disappointments life may bring you. You stood in the doorway and watched the hail fall from the sky, your eyes fascinated by the way it bounced off the wet grass. I noticed a smile appear on your face, you turned to me and whispered "wow!" and just like that the disappointment you had suffered moments earlier was replaced with wonder and amazement.

Oh, I think this may be my favorite in your series so far!
ReplyDeleteThank you dear Mumma... It is one of mine too. I love how this project has taught me to look beyond capturing her face!! Hope you are well friend xx
DeleteDisappointment is so heart wrenching to watch even though we know it's one of life's necessities. She will bounce from high to low effortlessly with wonderful parents like yourselves. Hope your week is a gentle one xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat Steph said! Audrey has such a lovely disposition. No doubt she will take anything in her stride with amazing role models! But to be fair, I too wanted to burst into tears. The weather has made trips to the beach a miss every.single.day. Lucky Mason's too young to know the difference!
DeleteOh thank you lovely ladies. She doesn't always handle life's little disappointments so well (as Steph has witnessed he he) but we are so proud of her all the same. Wishing you both the most wonderful of weeks (it was so lovely to see you both yesterday) xxxx
